How to Get to Tranquility on the Daintree
- Cairns to Port Douglas 45 minutes (62kms): If you are staying in Cairns simply head north along the Captain Cook highway. Enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery of one of Australia’s greatest drives. Stop at the Rex lookout and take in the breathtaking panorama. Another 15 minutes further on and you will pass the turnoff to the seaside resort town of Port Douglas.
- Port Douglas to Daintree Village 45 minutes (49kms): From the Port Douglas turnoff, continue heading north. You will pass through the sugar town of Mossman. Journey through an ever-changing tropical landscape, a patchwork of white sandy palm-fringed beaches, waving cane-fields and jungle clad misty mountains. See lush rural farmlands bordered by World Heritage listed rainforest. Following the signs to the Daintree Village, on the way you will pass the turnoff for Newell beach, steer right through Miallo and then pass the beautiful beach of Wonga. Once you pass the turnoff for Wonga Beach, it is only another 15 minutes to Daintree Village. Do not turn right at the Daintree Ferry/Cape Tribulation turnoff!
- Daintree Village to Tranquility on the Daintree 12 minutes (9kms) Look for the blue and white street signs as you enter the Daintree Village. Turn left at Pioneers Park into Stewarts Creek Rd. Approximately 1.5kms down the road, turn right into Upper Daintree Rd, immediately crossing Stewarts Creek bridge. Once over the bridge, continue to your right on Upper Daintree Rd for approximately 9kms. The spectacular Daintree River will be on your right all the way as it guides you to your holiday destination. There are signs to guide you along the way.
